Next in our new video series is behind the scenes footage of the Hawker Typhoon 1B aircraft build. Originally designed as a twelve-gun fighter, the Typhoon was intended to be the successor to the Hurricane. It suffered many development problems both with the airframe and its twenty-four cylinder Napier Sabre engine. A part of Gloucestershire heritage is being restored thanks to a team of volunteers and apprentices. A Hawker Typhoon World War II aircraft is being worked on at the workshop of The Jet Age Museum and the undercarriage has been carefully restored by apprentices from Safran at Staverton.
