DZIECI Z PAHIATUA 1 listopada 1944 Nowa Zelandia przyjęła 732 polskich dzieci - ofiar sowieckich deportacji. Wcześniej kilkanaście tysięcy najmłodszych uchodźców z Kresów trafiło do Indii, Libanu, Meksyku i Południowej Afryki. Tylko nieliczni powrócili po wojnie do Polski. Dzieci Perskich. Eighty years ago, New Zealand welcomed 733 children and 102 adults from Poland as war refugees. They were the country's first official refugees, invited by then-Prime Minister Peter Fraser. After travelling from Iran to Wellington on a troop ship, the children and their caregivers were housed at a camp at Pahiatua.
